Kansas Health Profession Opportunity Project (KHPOP)

The Kansas Health Profession Opportunity Project (KHPOP) is an innovative approach to provide education, training and employment in the healthcare sector to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients, and other low-income individuals.

Eligible individuals could potentially receive training tied to high-demand occupations in select healthcare fields.  Partnerships between state agencies benefits qualified individuals by expanding opportunity for an improved quality of life through education, while simultaneously reducing healthcare labor shortages and reducing the number of individuals on public assistance in Kansas.

HPOG is a study funded by the federal government which is being conducted to determine how these training opportunities help people improve their skills and find better jobs. During the study, all new eligible applicants will be selected by lottery to participate in these training opportunities. Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate in these opportunities.
