IMMI to open new operation in Burrton, Kan.

IMMI, an industry leader in the design, testing and manufacturing of advanced safety systems for commercial vehicles, today announced its plans to begin manufacturing school bus components at its newest location in Burrton. Located at 302 East Dean Road, the new operation should create more than 30 new jobs in the first 12 months of operation.

Jeremy Bougher, who will oversee all production, material handling, shipping, maintenance and QA activities as the facility’s operations manager, believes the new location will allow IMMI to even better support the school bus market in that region.

“We’re excited about partnering with the local community in establishing this new operation,” stated Bougher. “While we’ve always been able to provide a high level of quality products and service from our headquarters in Westfield, Indiana, this new satellite location will permit us to simplify the logistics process, reduce freight costs and offer customers even faster responses.”

Mickey Fornaro-Dean, executive director at the Harvey County Economic Development Council, added: “The Harvey County Economic Development Council, along with the city of Burrton and Harvey County, are very excited about IMMI’s choice to locate their facility in our community. The investment and creation of new jobs to our rural community will have a strong local impact. We have enjoyed working with their leadership on this project and look forward to continuing this relations as the company grows locally.”

“I congratulate IMMI on its expansion to Burrton,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “I am pleased the Department of Commerce was able to partner with IMMI, the city of Burrton and Harvey County to bring a growing company and good jobs to the area. I look forward to the company’s future success.”
