Zumiez Inc., a leading specialty retailer of action sports related apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories, announced today that the company will move its e-commerce fulfillment operations from its headquarters in Everett, Wash., to Edwardsville. The move is set for May 2012 and will accommodate the company’s growing online business and will increase the speed of product deliveries to online customers. The company is expected to create up to 100 new jobs.
“I want to welcome Zumiez to Kansas,” said Commerce Secretary Pat George. “The northeast part of the state is becoming a hub for distribution, and I look forward to adding Zumiez to the mix of companies in the region that fill a growing niche in our state’s economy.”
The e-commerce fulfillment operation includes 35 Zumiez employees and 35 staff sourced from an outside agency. The 35 Everett-based employees were offered the opportunity to relocate to Kansas.
“Decisions like this need to be evaluated carefully, especially when they impact our valued team members,” said Marc Stolzman, Zumiez’s chief financial officer. “As a company, we continually evaluate opportunities to increase the speed of delivering products to our customers while also improving our costs. The move to Kansas means that, across the continental U.S., our customers should receive their Zumiez order in three days or less>’
