YRC Freight to relocate 120 positions to Kansas

YRC Freight announced today that by the end of the year it will relocate 120 positions to its headquarters in Overland Park. The move will consolidate operations within its YRC Freight division from a number of facilities outside of Kansas.

“This is great news for Kansas,” said Commerce Secretary Pat George. “YRC Freight told me that they like the business environment and the quality of the workforce in Kansas. This is a big win to have a major transportation company like YRC Freight decide to consolidate more of its operations within our state.”

The positions moving to Kansas will include accounting functions – payroll, pricing, accounts payable and analyst positions – as well as customer service representatives and cargo claim teams. The consolidation is part of the company’s continued emphasis on customer service. YRC Freight delivers approximately 50,000 shipments a day and serves thousands of small and large businesses in Kansas and more than 200,000 customers in North America.

“We want to thank Secretary George and the entire team at the Kansas Department of Commerce for their valuable help,” said YRC Freight President Jeff Rogers. “At YRC Freight, we are building a team focused on delivering quality and consistently reliable freight service for our customers. The secretary and his team worked with us every step of the way in highlighting the strong pro-business environment in Kansas.”

“YRC Freight is an important corporate partner for Overland Park,” said Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach. “We are glad that the company has chosen its headquarters here to consolidate operations. YRC Freight is integral to interstate commerce in North America and the economy.
