Intellectual property litigation firm Erise IP relocates to Overland Park

Intellectual property litigation firm Erise IP announced today that it has moved its practice to Overland Park, creating 15 full-time, new positions. The firm will make a significant capital investment and lease 7,000 square feet at 6201 College Blvd.

“I want to welcome Erise IP to Overland Park,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “This is a successful and growing intellectual property law practice that works with many local and national clients, and I’m glad the firm has chosen Kansas to continue its growth.”

Erise is an IP litigation boutique that focuses exclusively on patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret cases for a variety of local, national and international clients, such as Garmin, Ubisoft, Sony and the Ford Motor Co.

The firm was founded in February of this year by Adam Seitz and Eric Buresh, both of whom worked for the law firm Shook, Hardy and Bacon LLP in Kansas City, Mo. Both are Kansas natives: Seitz grew up near Phillipsburg, and Buresh is from Topeka.

“The cost of living, business climate, and talent pool create an environment that allows us to provide a very specialized form of representation in a way that is exceptionally efficient for us and, ultimately, for our clients,” said Buresh. “The type of work we perform at Erise is often handled by large firms on the coasts, but both our unique structure and our presence here in Kansas allow us to be very competitive from a pricing standpoint while not sacrificing anything on the quality side.”

Seitz added that the firm chose Kansas because it provided the best business environment for a firm like Erise to grow and prosper. He sees Erise expanding to between 20 and 25 employees in the near future.

“I am excited to see Erise open their law office in Overland Park and add jobs to our robust professional service economy,” said Beth Johnson, senior vice president of economic development for the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce. “Overland Park has always been a place that supports and encourages entrepreneurship for companies like Erise.”
