Commerce accepting nominations for 2013 Governor’s Exporter of the Year

The Kansas Department of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2013 Governor’s Exporter of the Year Award, which is presented to a single Kansas business for excellence in international trade and marketing.

Nominated companies will be evaluated on the totality of their international efforts, specifically:
• increase in jobs because of international activities.
• innovations in global marketing.
• number of countries exported to.
• effective use of international distributors.
• long-range international strategies and prospects for future growth.
• commitment to the state and local community.

The winner will be announced in June of 2013. This is the 25th annual installment of the award.

“The Governor’s Exporter of the Year Award has acknowledged the success of Kansas companies in international trade for more than two decades,” said Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George. “Every year, we see a growing number of Kansas businesses competing for this award. As these companies achieve success internationally, they help spur the growth of the state’s economy and create more jobs here in Kansas.”
