Benefit Management Inc. (BMI), a provider of third-party administration services, will add 11 new jobs at its Great Bend facility, state and company officials announced today.
BMI administers self-funded health, dental and flexible spending plans for small- to mid-sized companies, government entities and state high-risk pools nationwide. The company has grown in recent years and is adding these new employees primarily to handle increased healthcare-related administrative services.
The Kansas Department of Commerce will provide $3,300 in Kansas Industrial Training funds to help the company train the new employees. BMI will match Commerce’s investment with $16,246, bringing the total project value to $19,546.
“We’re excited that BMI is adding these 11 new jobs in Kansas,” said Secretary of Commerce Bill Thornton. “Despite the nation’s current economic challenges, Kansas companies such as BMI continue to move forward and expand their business. We appreciate BMI’s commitment to our state and our workforce.”
The new employees will receive on-the-job and self-directed training on various topics, including company orientation and HIPAA.
“In these trying times, we are proud to continue to hire quality Midwest employees,” said Chad Somers, BMI Vice President and General Manager. “This expansion is truly a measure of success as we continue to increase both regional and national market share due to our track record of excellence in customer service and innovative health plan services.”
The Kansas Industrial Training program may be used to assist firms involved in both pre-employment and on-the-job training. Pre-employment training may be used to allow the company and prospective employees an opportunity to evaluate one another before making employment commitments. Prospective employees are given the knowledge and specific skills necessary for job entry. On-the-job training is conducted after hiring. Trainees may receive instruction on the company’s own production equipment on the plant floor or on similar machinery in a classroom setting. Visit www.KansasCommerce.com for details.
Established in 1995, BMI has been recognized as one of the Midwest’s fastest growing third-party administrators, providing health plan administration programs to self-insured companies, association plans and state high-risk pools nationwide. BMI is expanding operations in an effort to manage additional growth as a result of pending health insurance reform legislation in both the individual and group health insurance markets. BMI currently administers employee benefit plans for approximately 45,000 participants nationwide. Visit www.bmikansas.com for details.
