Wind Energy Initiative

The most fertile agricultural region on Earth has a new cash crop — wind. And thanks to new legislation and financial incentives, there’s no better time to harvest it.

Whether you’re building turbines or just looking to locate in the nation’s Wind Corridor, Kansas can mean big savings to your bottom line.

Kansas Wind Industry Overview
Kansas’ wind generating capacity recently surpassed 1,000 megawatts, making Kansas one of the top 10 states for wind production. The state’s wind generating capacity has more than tripled since the beginning of 2008, with five projects coming online in the past two years alone. This rapid increase in capacity, coupled with the state’s No. 2 ranking for wind potential, has positioned Kansas among the elite states for wind energy production.
