Attractions and Recreation

Hodgeman County offers several attractions. For the those interested in outdoor activities, visit  Horsethief Reservoir. This lake offers fishing for bass, crappie and blue gill, along with swimming, skiing, boating, hunting and camping. Camp Wild Women is also held at the Reservoir and is a day of shooting activities and education for women. The Great American Dirt Track, outside of Jetmore, offers several dirt racing events throughout the year, including Sprint Car Nationals and IMCA Modified Nationals. For the golfer, Jetmore Municipal Golf Course is a nine-hole grass green course that is owned and maintained by the city. Jetmore is home to Jetmore Municipal Wind Project, the first such wind project in Kansas.

For the history buff, don’t miss Haun Museum. The exhibits give a glimpse of daily life of the early county settlers. You’ll also find displays depicting American involvement in wars from Revolutionary through Vietnam.
