AuBurn Pharmacy owns and operates twelve retail pharmacies in Kansas, three in Missouri, a hospital pharmacy and a long-term care facility business that focuses on behavior health services. Headquartered in Garnett, owner Mike Burns has created a business model that allows his company to successfully compete with larger-scale businesses and keep local pharmacies alive in small and rural communities. His entrepreneurial spirit has positively impacted multiple communities across Kansas since 1992, with capital investments over the past ten years totaling nearly $6.7 million.

A family-friendly company, AuBurn Pharmacy provides many educational and training opportunities for its staff. The organization provides scholarships and is involved with mentoring programs at the high school and college level. Community and civic involvement is strongly encouraged for all employees. Many staff hold board positions in various organizations, and an increasing number of employees serve as “Bigs” in their communities through Big Brothers Big Sisters. While the number of school activities and community events are too numerous to list, it’s safe to say that AuBurn Pharmacy is involved in all of the communities it serves through the support of local schools, sports teams, after proms, chamber events, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Rotary Club and 4-H, just to name a few.

Community HealthCare System has a longstanding tradition of providing quality and compassionate healthcare to the rural communities of northeast Kansas. As its mission states, the organization is committed to enriching the health and lives of the people they serve. Established in 1955, the organization has made capital investments of $12.5 million over the past ten years. In addition to providing quality healthcare, Community HealthCare System is a major employer for the region with 440 employees living in 63 zip codes.

Community HealthCare System attends career fairs in local schools, provides free school athletic physicals, and partners with schools on Red Ribbon Projects which promote healthy lifestyles for kids and keeps schools drug free. The organization also provides free bike helmets for youth through a partnership with state agencies. Many employees are vested leaders in civic and community clubs and organizations.




Mid Kansas Coop AssociationMid Kansas Cooperative Association

Mid Kansas Coop is a full-service farm cooperative offering a complete line of supplies and services for both farm and urban customers in 11 counties throughout central Kansas. The organization has 35 grain locations that offer combined elevator space of 25 million bushels, offers 24-hour fuel service in 13 communities, and provides agronomy services to its member owners. Capital investments of $25 million over the past ten years include expansions that added nearly 5 million bushels of storage space and 7,000 tons of liquid crop storage.

The family-friendly company is very involved in the support of schools and community events. It contributes each year to the Walton 21st Century Rural Life Center, participates in a “Fuel Your School” program, and is a large contributor to Kansas Ag in the Classroom. An active participant in chamber of commerce activities, Mid Kansas Coop also provides funding for local food banks, community beautification projects and annual community events.




Neosho Memorial Regional Medical CenterNeosho Memorial Regional Medical Center

Located in southeast Kansas, Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center provides care to 45,000 residents in a 60-mile area and is a clinical training site for six allied health schools including a physician’s family medicine program. As the largest employer in Neosho County with 361 employees, Neosho Memorial provides service 33,000 times a year. In 2010, the organization continued its $20 million renovation and expansion program by building a Women’s Health Clinic, renovating a hospital-based family physician office and building a second outpatient specialty clinic area.

A position at Neosho Memorial is one of the most sought after in the area because of the attention to staff training and development as well as opportunities for advancement. The organization also provides both financial and people support in the community. Neosho Memorial sponsors youth sports teams, operates a patient transportation service, hosts health fairs and monthly community wellness programs, and operates a community fitness center. Volunteerism is strongly encouraged and many hospital employees are actively involved in community activities.



Rooks County Health CenterRooks County Health Center
Plainville


Rooks County Health Center is a licensed 25-bed critical access hospital located in northwest Kansas. Initially established in 1955 as the Plainville Rural Hospital, it was renamed in 2003 and opened the doors of its new, 43,000 sq.ft. facility in September of 2008. The hospital currently employs 126 people and continues to add new services that support the financial growth and stability of the region while exceeding the healthcare expectations of its patients and their families. Capital investments over the past ten years total nearly $20 million.

Rooks County Health Center is very committed to its associates and is a proud supporter of community activities. The organization supports local schools through radio program sponsorships, newspaper ads, the DIET FREE program in grade schools and job shadowing for high school students. Rooks County Health Center provides a Saturday Walk-In Clinic and coordinates the Rooks County Public Transportation Van service. An active Chamber of Commerce member since 1990, Rooks County Health Center has an active Hospital Auxiliary with nearly 140 selfless volunteers that assist the hospital.
