Turner is committed to supporting the communities in which it works and was one of the first major builders in the country to incorporate a community affairs department. Through numerous outreach and training programs, the company attempts to create opportunities for employment for minority and women personnel. It has established an annual goal of at least 20 percent minority and women-owned utilization in its suppliers and sub-contractors and consistently exceeds this objective.

The company is committed to offering Minority and Women Business Enterprises opportunities in the bidding process and sends out invites to a database of the companies when it has open bidding opportunities. In addition, Turner offers a unique construction management school for local Minority and Women Business Enterprises. This program, which was established in 1969 and is the oldest community outreach program in Turner's history, is now offered in more than 30 offices nationwide and has graduated more than 650 businesses in Kansas City in the past 18 years.

Turner has been honored with numerous industry awards including the Association of General Contractors Build America Award and was named one of the Kansas City's Best Places to Work by the Kansas City Business Journal. The company's employees volunteer for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Cristo Rey.
